Time
By: Tim Butt
One of the most important ‘human elements’ we all own and control is time. There never seems to be enough of this commodity, yet we’re all given equal amounts of it in a minute, hour, day, etc. There is one big unknown relative to time that differs for each of us; the time remaining in our lives. That thought not only scares me at age 56, but has been extremely motivational. Now that my life’s purpose has been defined, I’m living it with passion and a sense of urgency.
As I thought about today’s human element, I was reminded of a song written 30 plus years ago that is one of the true classics. ‘Time’ by Pink Floyd epitomizes the reality of how most of us view time and its lyrics are timeless. I invite you to invest the time to listen to this song and read the lyrics. I guarantee they’ll resonate with you and maybe even move you to action on something you’ve been procrastinating. Here’s my favorite verse:
You are young and life is long, and there is time to kill today. And then one day you find, 10 years have got behind you, no one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.If you’re a Gen-X and Y age individual or couple, just ask a Baby-Boomer what they would do over knowing what they know today about saving (specifically for retirement). The truth is, the majority of this generation totally missed the “starting gun”.
So here’s today’s ‘Words of Wisdom’ – Time is money! You never have enough of it and don’t know how much of it you have…so don’t allow yourself to miss the starting gun.
